Windows Security Issue

This issue occurs when the SurveyGold setup program has been run without sufficient Windows security privileges. Because of a security setting set by a system administrator, your Windows operating system requires that you have administrator privileges in order to install SurveyGold, or any other software for that matter and apparently your Windows login ID does not have those privileges.

The Windows operating system has advanced security features that can restrict the installation of any software product, such as SurveyGold, at the discretion of a corporate information technology network administrator. In such cases, when installing the product in a corporate setting it is essential that the SurveyGold setup program be "run as" a user with Windows "administrator" rights.

How To Remedy This Situation

Follow these steps:
  1. Login to Windows using the login ID that you want to run SurveyGold. This will normally be your own login ID, not an administrator login ID.
  2. Make sure you have downloaded the most recent SurveyGold setup program from surveygold.com. The setup program file name is sg8setup.exe.
  3. After downloading the SurveyGold setup program, do not open it immediately. Rather, select the option to show file in the folder.  This will open File Explorer and automatically select the sg8setup.exe file in the folder to which it was downloaded.
  4. Right-click on the sg8setup.exe file.
  5. Select "Run As Administrator" from the popup menu.
  6. If required, enter a Windows login ID that has administrator privileges and a password if required. Then click OK.
    (Note: It may be necessary for you to consult with your IT Help Desk to acquire this administrator login ID information.) 

Completing these steps will run the SurveyGold setup program using full administrator privileges. This normally results in a successful installation. For further assistance, contact us.
